Penn College Announces Highway Scholarship Winners

On June 27, 2018, the Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn College) announced the 2018-2019 academic-year recipients of the Highway Equipment & Supply Co. heavy construction equipment (HCE) Scholarship.

Stephen Baran from Hazleton, PA, a dual-degree HCE Technology-Technician and Diesel Technology student, and Tyler Dunn from Berwick, PA, an HCE Technology-Operator student, will be awarded $1,250 each to be divided between their fall and spring semesters.

Stephen has worked for Highway since November 2016 when he completed his Hazleton Area Career Center Cooperative Education Program in Diesel Technology at our Drums branch during his high school senior year. He continues to work for Highway as a technician assistant during the summer and on school breaks.

“Stephen is an excellent choice for our scholarship as he displays all of the qualities we look for in a student technician. He’s hardworking and fits in well with our entire team,” said Vice President Ryan Flood. “He is also a talented technician. We look forward to Stephen growing his career with Highway.”

Penn College continues to be Highway’s HCE technician program-of-choice for recruiting next-generation talent and enabling our service departments to go the extra mile for our customers in the future. Highway’s Penn College scholarship is an investment in that future and that of our customers as they hire skilled Penn College-trained operators.
