Highway Sponsors Upcoming Arts & Parks 5K

On Saturday, July 14, 2018, Lower Paxton Township will hold their 5th annual Arts & Parks Red Hot 5K event at the Friendship Center in Harrisburg, PA, at 8 a.m. This is the fifth year that Highway has been the title sponsor for this fun, family-friendly event.

The 5K Run

The 5K Run is an event for competitive runners that weaves through two beautiful neighborhoods surrounding Brightbill Park. Lower Paxton will provide cash prizes for the top three finishers in the following categories:

  • Overall male and female finishers

  • Youth finishers (age 14 and under)

  • Teen finishers (age 15-19)

  • Young adult finishers (age 20-29)

  • Adult finishers (age 30-39)

  • Adult finishers (age 40-49)

  • Master finishers (age 50-59)

  • Senior finishers (age 60-69)

  • Senior plus finishers (age 70 and over)

The 5K Walk

The 5K Walk is a relaxing, fun way to participate at your own pace while spending time with family and friends.

Event Information

Participants can register either online or by completing a registration form. You can find pre-registration forms at our Harrisburg location. The cost is $25 if you sign up ahead of time, or $30 if your register in person on race day. Same-day registration begins at 6 a.m. at the Friendship Center.

All runners will be given free access to the Friendship Center and its amenities the day of the race, including a rock wall, hot tub, gymnasium, babysitting center, and more. For more about the Friendship Center, visit

Proceeds from the race will benefit the community by enhancing arts and parks, including the Arts Council, the Friendship Center, and the Greenway Committee. This year's proceeds will also support the Lower Paxton Township EMS and fire companies.
